Khumbu Icefall Members of the U.S. Air Force 7 Summit Challenge Team navigate through the Khumbu Icefall during their expedition to the summit of Mount Everest, April 23, 2013. The icefall is formed by the Khumbu Glacier. Its constant and unpredictable movement makes crossing the Icefall especially dangerous, often opening giant crevasses with little to no warning.
