Rocket Launcher During World War II, U.S. Army soldiers used shoulder-fired, anti-tank rocket launchers called bazookas. These weapons allowed warheads to be delivered against armored vehicles, machine gun nests and fortified bunkers from ranges farther than a hand-thrown grenade.
