Cold Response The conditions at Cold Response 14 change rapidly, as the Arctic climate’s unpredictable weather pattern turns wet, rainy conditions into harsh snowfall in a matter of minutes, March 14, 2014. The initial stages of the exercise presented an unpredicted obstacle to overcome with temperatures being warmer than expected, causing wet and windy conditions that gave Marines the challenge of staying dry. Cold Response 14 brings together nearly 16,000 troops from 16 countries to train high-intensity operations in the unique climate of northern Norway, above the Arctic Circle.
