Navy Cmdr. Billie Farrell, former executive officer aboard the USS Vicksburg, poses in front of the ship’s propellers while in dry dock. Farrell is now the first female commanding officer of the USS Constitution, having taken command of Old Ironsides on Jan. 21, 2022. As the 77th commanding officer of the USS Constitution, Farrell became the first woman to serve as captain in the ship’s 224-year history, dating back to 1797.
