Medical Evacuation Navy Lt. Thomas Norris stands in the background at center as Air Force Lt. Col. Iceal Hambleton is taken via stretcher to a M113 armored personnel carrier to be evacuated. When Hambleton was shot down over South Vietnam during the 1972 Easter Offensive, Norris was tasked with mounting a ground operation to recover him and another stranded pilot, Air Force 1st Lt. Mark Clark, from behind enemy lines. Norris, along with Vietnamese commando Nguyễn Văn Kiệt, successfully brought both men back.
