Fourth Star President Ronald Reagan and Senator Barry L. Goldwater pin the fourth star on Air Force Gen. James Doolittle on April 10, 1985, 26 years after his retirement from the U.S. Air Force. Doolittle was advanced to the four-star rank by Senate confirmation, making him the first person in Air Force Reserve history to wear four stars.
