Owl Eyes

A pueo, or Hawaiian short-eared owl, fledgling rests in its nest in the Nu’upia Ponds Wildlife Management Area at Marine Corps Base Hawaii, April 12, 2024. An environmental team at the base employs conservation measures such as habitat protection, predator control and activity monitoring to maintain a healthy environment for the pueo, which is endangered on Oahu.
