Funeral Honors

Soldiers assigned to the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment, known as "The Old Guard," and the U.S. Army Band, "Pershing's Own," conduct military funeral honors with funeral escort for Army Air Forces Pvt. Doyle Sexton at Arlington National Cemetery, Va., April 26, 2024. Sexton was among thousands of U.S. and Philippine service members captured and interned at prisoner of war camps in the Philippine Islands, April 1942. According to prison camp and other historical records, Sexton died July 19, 1942, and his remains were found in 2018. The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency accounted for him, July 13, 2023, and his nephew, Robert Sexton, received the U.S. flag for his service.
