Berlin Dedication

Denise Halvorsen Williams helps uncover a plaque for a new airfield tower dedicated to her father, Air Force Col. Gail S. Halvorsen, during ceremonies commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Berlin Airlift in Wiesbaden, Germany, June 15, 2024. Halvorsen was known to many as the "Candy Bomber" for his idea to drop candy by parachute as aircraft approached Berlin – known as Operation Little Vittles.
