Pentagon Commemorates 75th Anniversary of Desegregation in the Federal Workforce and Armed Forces

The Department of Defense will commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Executive Orders 9980 and 9981, which banned segregation in the federal workforce and the armed forces, today at 10:00 a.m. EDT in the Pentagon Courtyard.

The event is open to the press and will be livestreamed on Defense.gov and on Twitter at @DeptofDefense.

Speakers will include:

  • Hon. Kathleen H. Hicks, Deputy Secretary of Defense
  • Hon. Gilbert R. Cisneros Jr., Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness
  • Gen. Charles Q. Brown, Chief of Staff of the Air Force
