Deputy Defense Secretary Bob Work yesterday met with South Korea’s Vice Minister of National Defense Hwang In-Moo at the Pentagon, Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Gordon Trowbridge said today in a statement.

The two leaders discussed the continuing cooperation between the United States and South Korea to address North Korea's nuclear weapon and ballistic missile programs, Trowbridge said.

Work reaffirmed the United States' ironclad commitment to defend South Korea, he said.

Work and Hwang also discussed the inaugural Defense Technology Strategy and Cooperation Group high-level talks, and agreed that this dialogue would strengthen the U.S.-South Korea alliance, Trowbridge said.
