Readout of Deputy Secretary of Defense Bob Work’s Meeting with Australian Secretary of Defense Dennis Richardson

Deputy Secretary of Defense Spokesperson Lt. Cmdr. Courtney Hillson provided the following readout:
 
Deputy Secretary of Defense Bob Work welcomed Australian Secretary of Defense Dennis Richardson to the Pentagon today.
 
They discussed global security issues and opportunities to further bilateral defense cooperation.  They both noted the strategic, operational, and tactical benefits of alliance cooperation for both nations and exchanged insights on how to sustain robust military capabilities. 
 
Work and Richardson talked about shipbuilding and maritime security, while highlighting Australia’s receipt of their first P-8A Poseidon aircraft.  Work noted how these advanced capabilities further facilitate the strength of the U.S.-Australia Alliance. Additionally, they commended progress on the implementation of the bilateral Force Posture Initiatives.‎
 
Lastly, Work conveyed appreciation for Australia’s continued commitment to investing two percent of GDP toward defense.
