Secretary of Defense James N. Mattis met his Estonian counterpart, Minister of Defense Jüri Luik, today at the Pentagon.
Secretary Mattis emphasized the value of the U.S.-Estonia close security partnership, and highlighted Estonia’s support for the enhanced Forward Presence (eFP). He praised Estonia’s leadership in cyber defense, noting that Estonia hosts NATO’s Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence. He also thanked Minister Luik for his country’s commitment to defense spending and modernization efforts to strengthen the NATO alliance.
They pledged to continue their dialogue on shared security interests and the U.S.-Estonia defense agenda.
