Secretary of Defense Ash Carter held a bilateral meeting today with Australia's Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, at the Pentagon.
Secretary Carter and Prime Minister Turnbull discussed a range of security issues, including their continued mutual commitment to defeat ISIL and to support the Government of Afghanistan.
They exchanged views on building a principled and inclusive security network in the Asia-Pacific, as well as developments in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the need for a peaceful resolution of disputes in the South China Sea in accordance with international law.
They also discussed opportunities to enhance collaboration related to defense innovation.
