The Defense Department joins the cloud as it kicks off its DOD Cloud Initiative today. Here’s what you need to know:

  • The cloud supports the warfighter with accelerated speed for programs and through a variety of vendors that will provide cloud space to the department.
  • The Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure, or JEDI, will allow DOD to use the enterprise cloud to meet its needs.
  • The cloud will have the highest security measures.
  • The cloud will facilitate the work of DOD personnel on next-generation applications for things such as artificial intelligence.
  • DOD will have command and control and next-generation communications through the cloud.
