Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel thanked Netherlands Minister of Defense Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert for her country’s support in the fight against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, coalition efforts in Afghanistan, and the battle against Ebola, Pentagon Press Secretary Navy Rear Adm. John Kirby said in a statement after the two met at the Pentagon yesterday.

“Secretary Hagel thanked Minister Hennis-Plasschaert for the Netherlands’ recent contribution of six F-16s and trainers to help the Iraqis counter ISIL in Iraq and for their generous financial donation to assist with Syrian refugees,” Kirby said.

Hagel also thanked the Dutch for committing troops to the Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan, he added.

The two leaders “also discussed the Ebola health care emergency in Africa and the Dutch’s financial commitments to accelerate international efforts to combat the virus,” the admiral said.
