Deputy Defense Secretary Bob Work and Norwegian State Secretary for Defense Oystein Bo exchanged insights on sustaining robust military capabilities and noted the strategic, operational, and tactical benefits of defense cooperation for both nations during a meeting at the Pentagon, Work’s spokeswoman said.

In a statement summarizing the meeting, Navy Lt. Cmdr. Courtney Hillson said Work and Bo discussed U.S.-Norwegian defense cooperation efforts and highlighted the U.S. Marine Corps pre-positioning equipment in Norway.

“They also discussed the security environment in Europe and the Middle East,” Hillson said, “to include ways to work together to strengthen maritime security in the North Atlantic, themes for the upcoming NATO summit in Warsaw, and the comprehensive strategy and capabilities to degrade and destroy the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.”

The two leaders stressed the value of partnerships and continuing to work with allies and friends around the world to confront emerging challenges, she added.
