Vietnam War Commemoration Opens Pentagon Exhibit

Secretary of Defense Ash Carter will host former defense secretary and Vietnam War veteran Chuck Hagel and other Vietnam War veterans at a ceremony on Tuesday, Dec. 20, to open an exhibit in the Pentagon honoring Vietnam veterans and their families. The ceremony will take place at the alcove on the 3rd floor, A-Ring, between Corridors 2 and 3.  It is not open to the public.
 
The ceremony will begin at 2:30 p.m. EDT, and the secretary of defense will deliver remarks but will not be taking questions. The Pentagon Vietnam War exhibit highlights include two Huey helicopters, a binnacle from the Mayaguez ship, iconic memorabilia left at The Wall, statues and paintings, chronological and thematic timelines of the Vietnam War and an alcove area for events and ceremonies.
 
The ceremony is open to still photographers and journalists, but pooled for TV outlets. Media interested in covering this event must RSVP at the contact provided below. Deadline for all RSVPs is Monday, Dec. 19 by noon EDT.
