Secretary of Defense Carter Travel to California and Colorado

 Secretary of Defense Ash Carter will travel to California and Colorado May 10-13 to continue his outreach to innovators in the technology sector, receive an update on key space issues, speak to Air Force Academy cadets and preside over an historic change of command.
       
Secretary Carter will visit the Department of Defense's innovation hub, Defense Innovation Unit - eXperimental (DIUx), at its headquarters in Mountain View to meet with staff and deliver brief remarks about the future of DIUx, as well as host a breakfast reception for tech leaders.  Later, in Santa Clara, he will join Secretary of Homeland Defense Jeh Johnson and Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker at the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee (NSTAC) to deliver remarks focused on the DoD's emerging technology priorities.
       
In Colorado Springs, Secretary Carter will visit the Joint Interagency Combined Space Operations Center (JICSpOC) to meet with leadership and discuss the new operation center's work on key space issues, as well as speak with troops assigned to support this important mission. He will also visit the U.S. Air Force Academy, where he will meet with cadets, tour the academy's cyber lab and innovation center and deliver remarks. Finally, he will attend the change of command ceremony for North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command, alongside Canadian Minister of National Defense Harjit Sajjan, as Air Force Gen. Lori Robinson replaces Adm. Bill Gortney. Robinson will make history in becoming the first female head of a combatant command.
