Department of Defense Press Briefing on U.S. Africa Command Investigation of Oct. 4, 2017 Ambush in Niger

Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs Robert S. Karem, Marine Gen. Thomas D. Waldhauser, commander, U.S. Africa Command, and Army Maj. Gen. Roger L. Cloutier, chief of staff, U.S. Africa Command, and lead investigating officer, will brief the press at noon EDT, May 10, in the Pentagon Briefing Room (2E973) on the results of an investigation into the Oct. 4, 2017 ambush in Niger.

Prior to the noon briefing, members of the media are invited to watch a digital re-creation of the Tongo Tongo ambush in the Pentagon Briefing Room at 11:30 a.m. EDT.  The digital re-creation will only be shown within the Press Briefing Room.  Reporting on the digital re-creation is embargoed until the start of the press briefing. 

 
Both U.S. and foreign journalists without a Pentagon building pass must be pre-registered in the new Pentagon Visitor Management System to attend this briefing; plan on being escorted from the River Entrance Pedestrian Bridge or the Pentagon Metro Entrance Facility only. Please arrive no later than 45 minutes before the briefing; have proof of affiliation and photo identification. Please call 703-697-5131 for any questions and escort into the building.
