General Officer Announcement

Secretary of Defense Mark T. Esper announced today that the president has made the following nomination:

Air Force Lt. Gen. Thomas A. Bussiere for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general, and assignment as deputy commander, U.S. Strategic Command.  Bussiere is currently serving as commander, Alaskan Command, U.S. Northern Command; commander, Eleventh Air Force, Pacific Air Forces; and commander, Alaskan North American Aerospace Defense Region, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska.
