Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III participated in a virtual meeting of NATO colleagues from Canada, Lithuania, Poland, and the United Kingdom plus Ukraine today. These allies are actively providing training and support in Ukraine, alongside the United States. The meeting was hosted by UK Secretary of State for Defence Ben Wallace.
The Ministers reaffirmed support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and exchanged perspectives on Black Sea security in the context of Russia’s continued aggressive actions in the region.
The meeting came on the heels of Secretary Austin’s February 19 discussion with Ukraine Minister of Defence Andrii Taran, which focused on Ukraine’s defense priorities, reform objectives, and how the five allies can support Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic goals.
