Deputy Secretary of Defense Dr. Kathleen Hicks Travels to California

Attributable to Pentagon Spokesman Eric Pahon:

Deputy Secretary of Defense Dr. Kathleen Hicks departs on domestic travel to California on Sunday, October 16, to visit Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton and Naval Base Point Loma.

At both locations, she will see Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) in action via the Project Convergence 2022 Capstone to gain a better understanding of the challenges which impact JADC2 implementation across the joint force.

At Camp Pendleton, Deputy Secretary Hicks will also meet with troops, gain additional insight into USMC expeditionary logistics capabilities, and discuss the impacts of drought and wildfires on installation resilience.

Deputy Secretary Hicks will then travel to Naval Base Point Loma, where she will see the Navy's most cutting-edge, multi-domain unmanned technologies and command-and-control programs, especially as they relate to operations in the Indo-Pacific.

Throughout her travel, Deputy Secretary Hicks will focus on taking care of service members and their families; and linking the department's resources to our strategic competition priorities, including the pacing challenge of China, while ensuring DoD remains the world leader in cutting-edge innovation.
