Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III met with the Defense Innovation Board yesterday at the Pentagon.
During this session, Secretary Austin shared a strategic overview of his National Defense Strategy and Department priorities and areas where the Defense Innovation Board's expertise and insights could give the Department an edge in technology and innovation. Board members then provided their feedback and ideas on how to catalyze innovation across the Department.
Secretary Austin emphasized the importance of working in close partnership with America's private sector to build enduring advantages for the warfighter.
Secretary Austin highlighted the following focus areas for the Board to bring its unique private sector insights and expertise:
• Accelerating experimentation and technology adoption
• Innovation workforce and talent
• The National Defense Science & Technology Strategy
• Strengthening the relationship with the private sector on national security issues
Secretary Austin ended the meeting by thanking the members of the Defense Innovation Board for dedicating their time and expertise in service to the Nation, the Department, and the warfighter.
