Performing the Duties of Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, Dr. Mara Karlin welcomed the Ambassador of Iceland to the United States Bergdís Ellertsdóttir and Deputy Chief of Mission Davíð Sigurðsson to an in-person meeting at the Pentagon Friday, Feb. 24.
The leaders discussed increasing momentum on next steps to deepen the United States-Iceland bilateral relationship, shared efforts to strengthen security in the North Atlantic, and Icelandic contributions in support of the Ukrainian people suffering heinous atrocities and crimes against humanity committed by the Russian Federation. Further, they underscored the importance of addressing climate change and the impact to the Arctic region.
