Clarkston, Wash. – Lower Granite Lock and Dam is looking for individuals or couples to serve as volunteers. There are two types of positions open: Visitor Center Host and Janitorial/Grounds Maintenance.
Volunteers will be provided with an RV site with full hookup and propane along the Snake River in exchange for 25+ hours of work a week. Weekend and holiday work required. Volunteers must provide their own RV. Individuals and/or couples are welcome to apply.
Visitor Center Host Volunteers will be working at Lower Granite Dam Visitor Center near Pomeroy, Washington. Volunteers will assist in visitor center operations, including guest orientation, providing information to visitors, informal interpretation, giving interpretive programs (tours), and bookstore operations. They will also work with project staff on various projects, including assistance with light groundskeeping at recreational sites.
Janitorial/Grounds Maintenance Volunteers will be working at Swallows Nest Park near Clarkston, Washington. Volunteers will be responsible for unlocking and locking restrooms and park gates, cleaning restrooms, emptying garbage cans, cleaning fire rings and picking up litter at various locations, including Swallows Park, Chestnut Park, Greenbelt, Lewiston Levee, and Asotin Boat Ramp on the south shore, plus Wawawai Landing, Blyton Landing, Nisqually John Landing and all associated disbursed sites on the north shore. Volunteers will also be responsible for monitoring the occupancy in the north shore locations.
