Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III spoke by phone June 13 with Ukrainian Minister of Defence Oleksii Reznikov to discuss priorities for the June 15 Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting in Brussels, Belgium, which will focus on bolstering Ukraine’s air defense and other near-term capability priorities, as well as training and sustainment to enhance Ukraine's enduring strength over the long term. Secretary Austin provided an update on recent U.S. security support, including the announcement of an additional $325 million package. Minister Reznikov shared his reflections on the dynamics on the ground in Ukraine.
The two leaders pledged to remain in close contact.
