The Joint Staff-sponsored Bold Quest joint and multinational demonstration and assessment concluded today in Southern California. Military participants and observers from 17 allies and partner nations gathered to demonstrate and assess technical and procedural means of working together at strategic, operational, and tactical levels across all domains.
Live and virtual events included testing sensor to shooter interoperability, cross domain fires, and coalition networking.
In conjunction with the Marine Corps exercise Island Marauder, Bold Quest brought together service members, ships, and planes in an operational context to experiment with interoperability. Bold Quest is an exercise that evolves Combined Joint All Domain Command and Control tactics, techniques, and capabilities, allowing the U.S., our allies, and partners to build trust, improve interoperability, and advance innovative and resilient capabilities.
"Over the past 20 years, Bold Quest has brought together allies and partners and strengthened our readiness to reinforce the rules-based international order," said Ms. Charleen Laughlin, Acting Director for Command, Control, Communications, and Computers/Cyber and Acting Chief Information Officer, Joint Staff J6. "Operational demonstrations like Bold Quest provide key opportunities to enhance and evolve interoperability."
Bold Quest uses live and virtual forces to demonstrate enhanced interoperability, specifically in the areas of ground force situational awareness, digital command and control of close air support, coalition intelligence collection and sharing, joint fires support, cyber defense, medical integration, and federated mission networking.
"Bold Quest gives us the opportunity to stress capabilities in a realistic operational environment, agilely adapting data-centric approaches to increase the speed of decision making," said Ms. Laughlin. "More broadly, Bold Quest directly supports DoD priorities to enhance C4 capabilities that deliver Combined Joint C2 across all domains."
