The Defense Policy Board gathered for two days of closed sessions at the Pentagon on December 5-6, on evolving global security dynamics.

The session focused on evaluating the current security landscape, with a particular emphasis on the implications of Russia’s actions in Ukraine and the long-term implications for U.S. policy. The board explored Russia’s military evolution, U.S. deterrence strategies, and global partnerships.

DPB members met with senior defense leaders, including Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III; Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. CQ Brown Jr.; Acting Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Ms. Sasha Baker; and Gen. Christopher Cavoli, Commander of the U.S. European Command, along with other U.S. officials.
