General Officer Announcements

Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III announced today that the president has made the following nominations:

Army Maj. Gen. Thomas M. Carden Jr. for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general, with assignment as deputy commander, U.S. Northern Command; and vice commander, U.S. Element, North American Aerospace Defense Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado. Carden is currently serving as the adjutant general, Georgia National Guard, Marietta, Georgia.

Marine Corps Brig. Gen. Melvin G. Carter for appointment to the grade of major general. Carter is currently serving as deputy chief, Computer Network Operations, National Security Agency, Office of the Secretary for Information and Security, Fort Meade, Maryland.

Marine Corps Brig. Gen. Phillip N. Frietze for appointment to the grade of major general. Frietze is currently serving as assistant deputy commandant, Combat Development and Integration; and deputy commanding general, Marine Corps Combat Development Command, Quantico, Virginia.

Marine Corps Brig. Gen. Robert C. Fulford for appointment to the grade of major general. Fulford is currently serving as deputy commanding general, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California.

Marine Corps Brig. Gen. Peter D. Huntley for appointment to the grade of major general. Huntley is currently serving as commander, U.S. Special Operations Command South, Homestead, Florida.

Marine Corps Brig. Gen. Jason L. Morris for appointment to the grade of major general. Morris is currently serving as director, Operations Division, Plans, Policies & Operations, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.

Marine Corps Brig. Gen. Julie L. Nethercot for appointment to the grade of major general. Nethercot is currently serving as director, J-5, U.S. Southern Command, Doral, Florida.

Marine Corps Brig. Gen. Ryan S. Rideout for appointment to the grade of major general. Rideout is currently serving as director, Manpower Management Division, Quantico, Virginia.

Marine Corps Brig. Gen. George B. Rowell IV for appointment to the grade of major general. Rowell is currently serving as deputy commander, U.S. Forces Japan, Yokota Air Base, Japan.

Marine Corps Brig. Gen. Daniel L. Shipley for appointment to the grade of major general. Shipley is currently serving as deputy commander, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Pacific, Camp Smith, Hawaii.

Marine Corps Brig. Gen. James B. Wellons for appointment to the grade of major general.  Wellons is currently serving as assistant deputy commandant, Programs and Resources, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
