Readout of Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Jennifer Zakriski's Participation in the U.S.-Tunisia Military Commission Working Groups

Department of Defense Spokesman Maj. Pete Nguyen provided the following readout:

Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for African Affairs, Ms. Jennifer Zakriski, traveled to Tunisia Feb. 8-9 to meet with Tunisian Minister of Defense Imed Memmich. While in Tunis, Acting DASD Zakriski co-chaired the Military Commission Working Groups (MCWG) with Tunisian Air Force Chief of Staff, Maj. Gen. Mohammed Hajem, in advance of the 36th annual Joint Military Commission to be held later this year. 

The MCWG reaffirmed the importance of the longstanding partnership between the United States and Tunisia and the Department of Defense's support for expanding Tunisia Armed Forces' role as a regional security leader.
