Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III announced today that the president has made the following nominations:
Army Maj. Gen. David J. Francis for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general, with assignment as deputy commanding general, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command; and commanding general, U.S. Army Center for Initial Military Training, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia. Francis is currently serving as the chief of staff, U.S. Africa Command, Germany.
Army Maj. Gen. Mark H. Landes for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general, with assignment as commanding general, First U.S. Army, Rock Island, Illinois. Landes is currently serving as the special assistant to the commanding general, U.S. Army Forces Command, Fort Liberty, North Carolina, with duty at Fort Knox, Kentucky.
Army Maj. Gen. Matthew W. McFarlane for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general, with assignment as commanding general, I Corps, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. McFarlane is currently serving as the deputy commanding general, I Corps, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.
Army Maj. Gen. Paul T. Stanton for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general, with assignment as director, Defense Information Systems Agency; and commander, Joint Forces Headquarters-Department of Defense Information Network, Fort Meade, Maryland. Stanton is currently serving as the commanding general, Cyber Center of Excellence and Fort Eisenhower, Fort Eisenhower, Georgia.
Air Force Col. William J. Creeden for appointment to the grade of brigadier general. Creeden is currently serving as deputy commander, Fifteenth Air Force, Air Combat Command, Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina.
