Readout of Acting Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Ms. Amanda Dory's Travel to Germany and England

Department of Defense Spokesman Lt. Col. Garron Garn, USMC, provided the following readout:

Acting Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, Ms. Amanda Dory, returned from travel after visiting Berlin and Wiesbaden in Germany and London in the United Kingdom this week.

In Berlin, Ms. Dory participated in strategic dialogue with German Federal Ministry of Defense Political Director Dr. Jasper Wieck. This dialogue reaffirmed their dedication to the enduring strength of the bilateral defense relationship and to the NATO Alliance. She thanked Dr. Wieck for Germany's commitment to Ukraine's defense, both in terms of security assistance and in terms of leadership within the Ukraine Defense Contact Group.

Ms. Dory and Dr. Wieck exchanged views on the major security challenges facing the two nations, including Russia's unprovoked war in Ukraine, multiple crises in the Middle East, and challenges in the Indo-Pacific region. Both emphasized the need for deepening defense industrial cooperation to strengthen our collective defense and interoperability within NATO and the importance of unity in addressing today's security challenges.

Finally, Ms. Dory traveled to London in the United Kingdom. While there, she signed a Strategic Policy Roadmap for Trilateral Multi-Domain Cooperation alongside UK Ministry of Defence Director General, Paul Wyatt, and Norwegian Ministry of Defense Director General for Security Policy and Operations, Henning Vaglum. This Roadmap will further our efforts to establish common standards for Arctic-capable forces, optimize intelligence practices, and facilitate persistent training and engagements. This close collaboration with our allies is key to long-term peacebuilding and security in the High North and Arctic.  Ms. Dory also discussed the shared priorities for the respective bilateral defense relationships with Director General Wyatt and Director General Vaglum.
