On Oct. 10, Acting Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Cara Abercrombie met with Papua New Guinea's Deputy Prime Minister, John Rosso, and a senior delegation from the Government of Papua New Guinea (PNG) at the Pentagon. In his first visit to the Pentagon, PNG Minister of Defense Billy Joseph also participated in the discussion. The two sides discussed opportunities for future engagement and deepening of the security partnership, including through the U.S.-Papua New Guinea Defense Cooperation Agreement and establishment of a regular defense dialogue. The delegation's visit to the Pentagon coincided with the inaugural bilateral U.S.-Papua New Guinea Strategic Partnership Dialogue, also held on October 10 at the Department of State.
