United States and Argentina Hold the 21st Meeting of the Bilateral Working Group to Discuss Key Defense Priorities

Pentagon Spokesman Lt. Col. Devin Robinson provided the following readout: 

On December 5, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Western Hemisphere Affairs, Ms. Ana Janaina Nelson, co-chaired the 21st meeting of the U.S. – Argentina Bilateral Working Group with Argentine Secretary of International Affairs for Defense Mr. Juan Battaleme at the Pentagon.

Established in 1999, the U.S.-Argentina Bilateral Working Group is a longstanding component of the U.S. – Argentina defense relationship to discuss strategic-level defense issues.  The co-chairs convened senior policy leaders from the U.S. Department of Defense and Argentina's Ministry of Defense to discuss topics including regional and global security, defense modernization, Women, Peace, and Security, peacekeeping, the State Partnership Program, and science and technology.  DASD Nelson and Secretary Battaleme re-affirmed the importance of the U.S. – Argentina defense relationship and Argentina agreed to host the next round of the Bilateral Working Group in 2025.
