The American Forces Network, AFN, will be reducing radio programs on May 1, 2025, to better streamline operations. The reductions in radio programs include removal of AFN Legacy, Freedom Rock, The Blend, and Joe Radio. Commercially produced podcasts will also no longer be available on the audio streaming service, AFN Go.
The historic radio network will continue to provide military audiences with a variety of top-rated music, entertainment, and news channels on its AFN Go app. AFN's 24 Eagle radio stations around the world will continue serving U.S. military communities overseas.
The AFN Go app has seen audience growth of more than 30-percent in the past year, with listeners streaming nearly 480,000 hours of radio programming in January alone. The AFN Go radio streaming app is free and easy to download. DoD members overseas are encouraged to download both AFN Go and the television streaming app, AFN Now. Both are available from Google Play or Apple App Store. They are also available on Google and Apple devices, Amazon Fire, Roku, and select smart TVs with app functionality.
AFN takes pride in its 83-year legacy of serving U.S. military audiences overseas. Along with enhancing troop morale, retention and recruiting, as well as safety and security, AFN continues to live up to its motto, "We Bring You Home".
