Chief Pentagon Spokesman Sean Parnell provided the following readout:
On August 6, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth spoke with Saudi Minister of Defense, His Royal Highness Khalid Bin Salman, to discuss shared efforts to deepen bilateral defense cooperation. The leaders discussed opportunities to advance Saudi capabilities, in line with the $142 billion Foreign Military Sales Memoranda of Intent signed during President Trump's May 2025 visit to Riyadh, and exchanged views on regional security issues, including Syria and Iran. Both sides affirmed the importance of advancing President Trump's vision for a Syria that is stable, inclusive, and at peace with itself and its neighbors.
