Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Europe and NATO Tom Goffus will welcome Italian Ambassador to the U.S. Armando Varricchio at a ceremony on Thursday, October 12, to open an exhibit in the Pentagon entitled War & Art, WWI--The U.S. in Italy. The ceremony will take place at the alcove on the 3rd floor, A-Ring, between Corridors 1 and 2. It is not open to the public.
The ceremony will begin at 2:45 p.m. EDT, and will include remarks from Mr. Goffus, Ambassador Varricchio, and others. Ambassador Varricchio will be available after the ceremony to take questions.
The Italian Art & War exhibit highlights one of the largest collections of photographs that focus on the scheme to safeguard the artistic heritage of Italy during WWI, and the measures implemented to protect its countless artifacts and historical buildings.
