Secretary Esper Travels to Naval Station Great Lakes and Fort Leonard Wood

Secretary of Defense Dr. Mark T. Esper embarks Wednesday, June 17 to visit Naval Station Great Lakes with a follow-on visit to Fort Leonard Wood on June 18.

At Naval Station Great Lakes, Secretary Esper will meet with leaders from the Naval Service Training Command, Recruit Training Command and Training Center for Surface Combat Systems Unit Great Lakes to discuss the continued training of the nation’s naval forces under COVID conditions. Secretary Esper will observe Sailor basic training, including firefighting and damage control, Ready Relevant Learning Interactive Training used for job specialty training, and conduct a re-enlistment ceremony.

At Fort Leonard Wood, Secretary Esper will meet with leaders from the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence to discuss the continued growth of the nation’s soldiers under COVID conditions. Secretary Esper will observe basic training and Advanced Individual Training events as well as conduct a re-enlistment ceremony.
