June 20, 2016

Secretary of Defense Ash Carter will visit military installations in New York, Indiana, Kentucky and Illinois June 21-23 on a trip highlighting his Force of the Future initiative. The initiative seeks to ensure that the department continues to recruit, train and retain the very best talent America has to offer. At five stops in four states over three days the secretary will meet with service members at critical stages of their careers. He will also see a range of installations preparing and training our warfighters of the future.
On June 21 Secretary Carter will travel to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, where he will speak at the closing ceremony for the 2016 Warrior Games, the annual sporting competition bringing together wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans from across the country. On June 22 he will visit Army ROTC cadets during their advance camp at Fort Knox, and meet with cadets over lunch to hear about their decisions to serve and their career aspirations, before flying to Crane, Indiana. At Crane, he will tour the Naval Surface Warfare Center and meet with leadership and Sen. Joe Donnelly. Secretary Carter then travels to Chicago June 23 where he will tour a military entrance processing station and swear in recent recruits before heading to Naval Station Great Lakes to witness a graduating class of Navy enlistees engage in their capstone event, Battle Stations 21.
