General Officer Assignments

The chief of staff, Army has announced the following assignments:

 

Maj. Gen. John W. Charlton, vice director for joint force development, J-7, Joint Staff, Suffolk, Virginia, to commanding general, U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland.

 

Maj. Gen. Daniel L. Karbler, commanding general, U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, to chief of staff, U.S. Strategic Command, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska.

 

Maj. Gen. Andrew P. Poppas, director, force management, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7, U.S. Army, Washington, District of Columbia, to commanding general, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and Fort Campbell, Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

 

Maj. Gen. Leon N. Thurgood, deputy for acquisition and systems management, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Acquisition, Logistics and Technology), Washington, District of Columbia, to deputy commanding general for support, Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan, U.S. Forces-Afghanistan.

 

Brig. Gen. Joel K. Tyler, deputy commanding general (support), 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss, Texas, to commanding general, Brigade Modernization Command, Army Capabilities Integration Center, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, Fort Bliss, Texas.
