Secretary of Defense James Mattis met with Crown Prince and Minister of Defense for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman at the Pentagon today.
Secretary Mattis and the crown prince affirmed the importance of the U.S.-Saudi Arabia defense relationship. They discussed the security environment in the Middle East, to include confronting regional threats through a united Gulf Cooperation Council. They also addressed the importance of U.S.-Saudi Arabia military cooperation in defeating transnational terrorist organizations, and supporting the U.N.-recognized government of the Republic of Yemen's efforts to bring the conflict there to a peaceful resolution.
The two leaders stated they look forward to deepening the U.S.-Saudi Arabia defense partnership and continuing to work closely together.
