Secretary of Defense Mark T. Esper met with French Minister of Armed Forces Florence Parly today at the Pentagon to advance mutual interests. The ministers discussed a variety of shared interests to include strengthening NATO, defeating ISIS, and security and stability in the Middle East and Africa.
The leaders recognized the threats posed by Russia and China in this era of great power competition, and agreed to remain committed to addressing them together.
Secretary Esper thanked Minister Parly for her commitment to burden sharing and discussed how the United States and France can continue to work together to deepen trans-Atlantic cooperation and ensure collective security.
