Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Jamal Brown provided the following readout:
Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Dr. Colin Kahl hosted a virtual meeting today with French Director General Alice Guitton, German Ministry of Defense Policy Director Dr. Detlef Wächter, and UK Director General for Security and Defense Policy Angus Lapsley. They discussed a range of security challenges facing the Alliance and agreed on the importance of maintaining NATO unity as they looked forward to the June 1 NATO Defense Ministerial and the June 14 NATO Summit.
They also discussed coordinating an orderly withdrawal from Afghanistan, projecting strength and stability in the Indo-Pacific, and addressing the many challenges the Alliance faces on the European periphery. Dr. Kahl thanked France, Germany, and the UK for their leadership and contribution to defense capability investment and modernization.
The four leaders committed to continued collaboration and further strengthening the NATO Alliance.
