Icy Endeavor
The Coast Guard cutter Polar Star transits through pack ice in the Southern Ocean, Dec. 28, 2022. Polar Star is en route to Antarctica in support of Operation Deep Freeze, a joint service, interagency operation for the National Science Foundation, which manages the U.S. Antarctic Program.
