Undersecretary of Defense for Policy John C. Rood co-chaired a meeting of the U.S.-Israel Defense Policy Advisory Group with his counterpart from the Israeli Ministry of Defense, Director of Policy and Political Military Affairs Zohar Palti, Oct. 22-23, at the Pentagon.
The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to continuing the strong, enduring military partnership that has developed over decades of cooperation.

The two-day discussion was led by Rood and Palti and included civilian and military personnel from the Defense Department and the Israeli Defense Ministry.

The purpose of the meeting was to help set priorities for U.S.-Israeli defense cooperation in the coming year.

Four main areas discussed: regional security; missile defense; interoperability planning; and counter terrorism, specifically counter-unmanned aerial system collaboration.

The two groups agreed to hold the same forum in 2019 as an anchor for other continuous engagements and dialogue.
