A Navy E/A-6B Prowler has the landing gear and tail hook down as it approaches the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) for an arrested landing on May 27, 2005. The all weather Prowler provides protection for strike aircraft, ground troops and ships by jamming enemy radar, electronic data links, communications and obtains tactical electronic intelligence within the combat area. This Prowler is deployed aboard the Kitty Hawk from Electronic Attack Squadron 136 of Naval Air Facility Atsugi, Japan. The Kitty Hawk is operating at sea in the 7th Fleet area of responsibility from its homeport of Yokosuka, Japan.
